To open Excel files you will need a spreadsheet program. Some suggestions & limitations:
1. Office: Mac - no limitations, this is Excel
2. An Office 'clone' such as NeoOffice or Open Office - I haven't used them but I haven't seen others report any problems, they aren't universal binary yet
3. AppleWorks - doesn't have sheets, newer PC Excel files may not open, Mac versions do
4. icExcel from Panergy Software - shareware, see link for more info
5. Mariner Calc - I know nothing about it, you may find info on MacUpdate or VersionTracker
